Music Students Selected for WLU’s Honors Recital

Congratulations to our music students: Cameryn Colley, Marissa Lammie, Kamryn Mayhew, Nicholas Reidmiller and Alexis Scott!

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., April 25, 2023 — West Liberty University’s Division of Music will hold its annual Honors Recital, at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 30, in the Elbin Auditorium, College Hall. The concert is free and open to the public and students will perform voice, clarinet, flute and percussion skills in the recital.

“The annual Honors Recital celebrates some of the finest musical talents in WLU’s Division of Music. Student performers are selected for the Honors Recital through a competitive audition,” said Dr. Gerald Lee, Professor of Piano.

Below are brief biographies for each of the five students performing in the Honors Recital:

Kamryn Mayhew is a sophomore pursuing the Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. She is from Wellsburg, W.Va. and studies voice with Dr. Linda Cowan, WLU professor of voice. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in vocal performance and pedagogy. 

Marissa Lammie is a sophomore pursuing both the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance. She is from Conway, Pa. and studies flute with Dr. Gail Looney, WLU adjunct faculty member. Upon graduation, she plans to teach music in the public schools in Pennsylvania. 

Cameryn Colley is a sophomore pursuing the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. She is from Wellsburg, W.Va. and studies clarinet with Dr. Matthew Swallow, WLU adjunct faculty member. Upon graduation, she plans to teach music in the public schools. 

Nicholas Reidmiller is a sophomore pursuing the Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion Performance. He is from Parkersburg, W.Va. and studies percussion with Dr. Mitchell Greco, WLU professor of percussion and world music. Upon graduation, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in percussion performance. 

Alexis Scott is a junior pursuing both the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. She is from Mt. Pleasant, Ohio and studies voice with Dr. Linda Cowan, WLU professor of voice. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in vocal performance and pedagogy. 

WLU’s Department of Music and Theater offers the Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance degree, the Bachelor of Arts in Music Education degree and the Bachelor of Music Technology degree programs. Among its many ensembles are the Marching Hilltoppers, University Singers, Wind Symphony, Community Choir, Percussion Ensemble, Choral Scholars, African Drum and Dance Ensemble, University Band, Steel Band, and Electronic Music Ensemble.
