WLU enjoys the presence of 50 students from 23 international countries this year, according to Mihaela Szabo, coordinator of the International Student Recruiting office.

“Most of these students will take part in the festival and many will be attired in native clothing. There also will be a PowerPoint presentation, offering a global glimpse of the various cultures involved in the event,” she said.

The International Student Office and the International Student Club’s annual Food Festival is just one of many events planned by the students and staff during the academic year.

The Club officers are: Jialin Liao, president; Maricris Pangilinan, marketing coordinator; elementary school student Jean Kalb,  International Club cheerleader; Arij Ben Mbarek, vicepresident and Oussema Bouaicha, coordinator of events.

The event also is sponsored by the Student Government Association and Housing & Student Life. Partial funding was provided by a West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission Diversity for Equity Grant.

“Healthy eating has never been more popular than it is today with college students. Our International Food Festival is a perfect place to try something new that is both healthy and tasty,” Szabo said. “Bon Appétit!”
