WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Oct. 10, 2018 — Sodexo will have a Grand Opening and Wing Contest for its newest restaurant, Wow Café, from 4 – 6 p.m., Oct. 18, 2018.
“We’re looking to have some fun with the students and invite them to enjoy our famous hot wings in a special contest,” said General Manager of Sodexo Dining Services Doug Orr.
“The wing contest will demand that competitors eat as many wings as possible in eight minutes. These wings are the hottest we have, the Buffalo XIII Wings, so this contest is not for the faint of heart,” said Orr. There is no fee to participate in the contest.
The contest is open to all students but will be capped at 24 participants. All participates also will receive a T-shirt to wear during the competition.
The top three wing eaters will be eligible for prizes that include a grand prize of $50 in Sodexo Dollars. Second and third place winners will receive gift certificates. The Grand Prize Winner also will have their name and picture displayed on the Wall of Flame that will be constructed near the counter of the Wow Café.
“We are looking forward to having this wing competition and prize give-aways for our Grand Opening,” said Anita L. Hardin, Sodexo marketing coordinator.
The only beverage supplied to the competitors will be water.
Wow has proven to be very popular already, according to Orr who said the busy café, which is called an American Grill and Wingery, is now serving about 1,000 meals a day. The new restaurant replaced the former Grille restaurant in the College Union and opened in August.
Founded by the Ballard brothers in New Orleans, La. in 2001, Wow who wanted to delivers quality American food, packed with flavor, in a fast casual setting.
Sodexo provides complete dining and catering services to the West Liberty University campus community, serving students and staff on a daily basis in a variety of settings.
