WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., July 25, 2023 – Starting this fall semester, West Liberty University will offer a Doctor of Education in Instructional Leadership, Management, and Innovation degree.
The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) has given its final approval for the institution to start accepting applications for this program. The EdD in Instructional Leadership, Management, and Innovation will select its first cohort, beginning on September 18th and continuing in consecutive summer, fall, and spring terms for three years.
The degree is designed to assist working professionals in various occupations by incorporating research-based practices to create positive change and innovative teaching, learning, and leadership methods in an online, distance education format. This includes managers and leaders in the workforce as well as professionals who aspire to pursue high-level teaching and administrative positions in collegiate or other institutions.
Applications will be open as soon as this week and will be accepted until the first cohort is chosen. Once this cohort is selected, the application window will reopen for the next cohort, who will start their doctoral journey in May 2024 and will open annually thereafter.
“WLU is proud to continue the tradition of being a leader in education. The institution began as a teacher’s college and continues to impact growth in education and leadership through the practical implementation of research” Cathy Monteroso, Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs/Provost.
“This program is an accelerated three-year, online degree that will allow working professionals the opportunity to use research and leadership skills to make a positive impact on their career and contribute to the research bases in their field of study,” said Nicole Ennis, Interim Dean of the College of Education and Human Performance
“For those looking to excel, build, and advance in their current or future careers, the opportunity has never been faster or more affordable than what WLU has built in the first ever doctoral program at this highly ranked and respected institution,” notes Dr. Richard Whitehead, Interim Chair of Graduate Teaching and Learning.
