WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., December 5, 2023 – Brooke Nicole Anderson of Wheeling, W.Va. will serve as the student speaker at the 187th West Liberty University Fall Commencement ceremony on Saturday, December 9 at 11 am.
Anderson is an Elbin Scholar and will graduate Magna Cum Laude. She is graduating from West Liberty University with a bachelor’s degree in public relations and a minor in mathematics. During her time at West Liberty, Brooke reestablished and participated in the WLU Dance Team, was a resident assistant, taught dance fitness classes, was a 2022 homecoming queen candidate, and was a member of the Dean’s List. Off-campus, Brooke is a dance instructor at Dynamic Dance Force, a social media specialist for Walk of Life Physical Therapy, a member of the Vineyard Church of Wheeling, and a volunteer cheer coach for Upward Sports. Following graduation, Brooke will begin her career at the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce as a communications specialist. Anderson is the daughter of Eric and Tonya Anderson of Wheeling, W.Va.
One hundred and fifty students are expected to have their degrees conferred by Dr. Tim Borchers, West Liberty University’s 38th president, at Saturday’s ceremony.

- College of Sciences – Madison Ging and Mckenzie Hayes
- Gary E. West College of Business – Makayla Blair and Grace Swigart
- College of Education and Human Performance – Shania Keene and Alaina Thompson
- College of Liberal and Creative Arts – Maria Zackey
Those in attendance will also hear from guest speaker David H. McKinley, president and chief investment officer of McKinley Carter Wealth Services in Wheeling, W.Va., and chair of the West Liberty University Board of Governors. Jared Thompson will speak on behalf of the Alumni Association.
Doors open at 9:30 am in the Academic, Sports, and Recreation Complex (ASRC). The ceremony begins at 11am and will will be live-streamed on TopperStation.com, Facebook, and YouTube for those unable to attend.
