West Liberty, W. Va., May 9, 2024 – West Liberty University named Brad Forshey as its next Director of Athletics. Forshey had been serving as the Interim Athletic Director at the University following the retirement of Lynn Ullom last fall.
“I’d like to thank Dr. Borchers and the search committee for this tremendous opportunity. I am truly humbled to be named the next Director of Athletics at West Liberty University,” said Forshey. “For nearly half my life, I’ve been able to call West Liberty home. WLU is a special place, filled with remarkable faculty, staff, students, and alumni. I’m excited to embrace this new challenge as we continue to work together to support and enhance the student-athlete experience on the hilltop.”
Forshey has worked at West Liberty for nearly 19 years, serving as the Director of Compliance, the Assistant Athletic Director, Admissions Counselor, Associate Head Football coach, Director of Football Operations, and Defensive Line Coach.
“Brad has demonstrated innovative thinking during his time as the Interim Athletic Director and has worked to strengthen the culture in the Athletic Department,” said Dr. Tim Borchers, President of West Liberty University. “I am excited to see him implement his ideas for the program and improve the experience for our student-athletes.”
During his time as Interim Athletic Director, West Liberty launched a women’s wrestling team and reinstated the men’s and women’s tennis programs. The University has initiated a fundraising campaign to build the Bobby Douglas Wresting Complex and recently broke ground on the Belmont Savings Bank Softball Complex.
West Liberty will offer 19 men’s and women’s sports for the 2024-25 season. The school is a member of the NCAA Division II and the Mountain East Conference.
West Liberty University blends a small-town environment with a comprehensive college experience, fostering students’ aspirations through hands-on learning, personalized support, and unique academic programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
