WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., May 1, 2024 — Marketing and Business Major Ishika Agarwal has earned the distinguished honor of delivering the student address at West Liberty University’s Spring Commencement. The ceremony will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4.
Agarwal, from Hyderabad, India, is a double major in marketing and business from the Gary E. West College of Business with a minor in finance.

At West Liberty, she served as the President of the International Club, Treasurer of the Student Government Association, President of Net Impact, a student ambassador, and a peer tutor. She is a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society and the Liber Society and was involved with WLU’s women’s tennis team, Marketing Club, and Investment Club.
Following graduation, Agarwal plans to return to WLU to work as a graduate assistant for the Gary E. West College of Business while she obtains her master’s degree in Business Administration.
“As I stand on the brink of graduation, I am filled with pride and gratitude for all the opportunities and experiences WLU bestowed upon me. Now, receiving this honor of being the student speaker is like one more milestone achieved. It brings me immense joy to know that my efforts have been recognized in such a meaningful way. WLU has played a major role in shaping who I am today, and I am eager to carry the lessons learned here into the next chapter of my life!” Agarwal said.
Around 360 Students are expected to have their degrees conferred by Dr. Tim Borchers, West Liberty University’s 38th president, at Saturday’s ceremony.
The graduating students with the highest grade point average from each college are honored with the duty of carrying the college banner. For the spring ceremony, the following students will serve as banner carriers:
- Graduate Studies – Lexie Ann Mullen
- College of Sciences — Lara Fetty, Shelby Cheyenne Simonton, Hailey Taylor
- Gary E. West College of Business— Mark Donnelly, Anthony Ferch II, Abbe Stackpole
- College of Education and Human Performance — Emily Anderson, Riley Rouse
- College of Liberal and Creative Arts — Chase Avery Ake
Doors open at 9:30 am in the Academic, Sports, and Recreation Complex (ASRC). The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. and will be live-streamed on Topper Station.
