“West Liberty University’s music education program was the perfect fit for me! From the moment I toured the music department to my very first class as a music major, I had never felt more welcomed from both students and professors alike! Small class sizes helped to maximize my learning as a future music educator and allowed me the opportunity to work one-on-one with my professors whenever needed. When I graduated from West Liberty University’s music education program, my fellow colleagues, the faculty and staff had become more like a second family to me.”

  • Live Sound engineer for BG Audio, the Upper Ohio Valley’s premier sound reproduction company

“From the first time I stepped foot on the campus of West Liberty I knew I had found the school for me. The students, faculty, staff, and administration always treated me with respect and helped me every step of the way. Having great professors, a state of the art recording studio, and classes fit to molding me as a sound tech readied me for my job, which I started before my senior year. Now I’m enjoying a great career as a live sound engineer for concerts all over the United States. I can’t thank the music department at West Liberty enough for helping me to live my dream! “

“I came to West Liberty like many others, not knowing what to expect as a music major. What I got were great professors, small class sizes, and plenty of experience doing many things. I also gained life-time friends and memories to cherish. One of the most memorable times was traveling to Italy in 2007 with the Chamber Choir. Never in a million years did I ever expect to do anything like that. I wouldn’t have, had I not chose West Liberty.

My experience at WLU has prepared me for the professional world. Being in such a small department I was able to get hands-on experience working in all areas of music. Those experiences, and the amazing faculty, staff, and friends that I have, truly assisted in my career development and for that I am truly grateful.”

“People usually say ‘where?’ when I say that I went to West Liberty University. I always enlighten those questioners with positive remarks about my undergraduate career. Describing my experience in one word, I would say it was ‘individualized’ – definitely a GOOD thing. I always felt like I was never too “small” to receive individual attention when I needed help or advice. As an educator, I felt like all of the music classes were tailored with training the future educator in mind–whether it was class piano, private horn lessons, or any one of the several pedagogy classes, I always felt as though I was receiving training that would be relevant in the classroom (and boy was I right!). West Liberty was a great place to receive a top notch education while still also getting the individual attention that I felt I needed. I owe a great amount of what I became as a teacher to WLU’s top notch music faculty.”
