Terri Giller, ATR-BC, Resident in Counseling earned a Master’s of Education from the University of Louisville in 2007 and has practiced as an art therapist in Illinois, Tennessee, and Virginia before moving to West Virginia to instruct at West Liberty University in 2021.
She has a variety of work experiences, providing art therapy services to individuals from age 2-102. She has provided art therapy services in schools, day programs, hospitals, and community mental health facilities. She developed and ran her own Art Therapy business, working with local mental health nonprofits and providing services in skilled nursing, memory care and retirement facilities throughout Tennessee. In Virginia her work focused on working with trauma survivors and at-risk youth in the school setting. She has served on the board of both the Tennessee and Virginia Art Therapy Association.
Terri has provided community education regarding art therapy; speaking at conferences, organizational trainings, and advocacy events. Terri creates nature-inspired art (subject matter and processes). She believes that she is a better art therapist when she is creating art and tending to her “self as artist.” She works with a multitude of media: acrylic, watercolor, collage, and clay/natural materials to name a few. She has shown her art in art exhibitions for art therapists and in the communities in which she has lived.
