The graduate Art Therapy and Counseling (ATC) program at West Liberty University provides the coursework required for professional credentials as an art therapist (ATR) with the Art Therapy Credentials Board.
Please note: the ATR credential is different from licensure. The ATR credential is nationally recognized and requires postgraduate supervision hours as an art therapist. It leads to different levels of experience: ATR-P (provisional), ATR, ATR-BC (requires passing the ATCB exam), and ATR-S (supervisor). This professional credential is regulated by the Art Therapy Credentials Board.
Licensure is required if you intend to engage in clinical practice and is regulated by the state you live in (see Art Therapy/Counseling Licensure for coursework disclosures).
