Edward and Marjorie Nichols of Wheeling celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 5 with a dinner at the Farm Restaurant in Adena.
They were united in marriage Nov. 5 in the West Alexander Presbyterian Church, West Alexander, Pa., by the Rev. John B. Hawes.
Marjorie Nichols is the daughter of the late Robert and Anna Caldwell of West Alexander. She graduated in the last class to graduate from Claysville High School in 1960. She then graduated from the last class of the Ruth Brandt School of Nursing at the former Martins Ferry Hospital and subsequently was employed by the hospital for 40 years as a registered nurse.
Edward Nichols is the son of the late Clarence and Margaret Nichols of Wheeling. He graduated from the former Triadelphia High School in 1957 and from the former West Liberty State College in 1962, followed by post graduate work at West Virginia University. He was employed at Skyvue, Bridgeport and Martins Ferry high schools. He also spent a lifetime showing purebred sheep throughout the eastern United States.
They reside on the Nichols Farm, which has been in the family since 1835.
The family includes a son, Rob (Gail) Nichols of South Charleston, and a daughter, Bridget (Jeff) Snapp of Martinsburg. They have three granddaughters.
A family get-together to celebrate will take place in the spring.
