WEST LIBERTY, W. Va., March 18, 2022 – The West Liberty University Wind Symphony will be presenting their first of two concerts at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 24 in College Hall on the WLU campus. The concert is free and open to the public however, donations will be accepted for those who would wish to make a contribution to the program.
The first concert, titled Masterworks, will feature original works by Gustav Holst, John Philip Sousa, as well as transcriptions for band by Morten Lauridsen and H. Robert Reynolds.
The audience will enjoy melodies from woodwinds, brass as well as percussion instruments performed by a small group of talented musicians.
The West Liberty University Wind Symphony is the premier concert band ensemble within the WLU Division of Music and under the direction of Dr. Gretchen Pohlman-Bassett, WLU director of bands. Just like its sister ensemble – the University Concert Band, the Wind Symphony is an internationally recorded ensemble.
The second concert in this series will take place at 6 p.m., April 28 in College Hall.
