Former chief of BB&T to address community at Oglebay dinner April 7; Guest of West Liberty University’s Economics Club
WEST LIBERTY – The recently-retired chairman and C.E.O. of banking giant BB&T Corporation will be in Wheeling next month, the featured speaker at a dinner hosted by the West Liberty University Economics Club.
John A. Allison will speak on “Principled Leadership” on Thursday, April 7 at Oglebay Park’s Wilson Lodge banquet room at 7 p.m., following a 6 p.m. cocktail reception. Tickets for the event are $25.00.
Allison, regarded as a titan in the financial services industry, guided BB&T from 1989 through 2009. The Harvard Business Review chose him as one of the world’s most influential CEO’s of the decade that he served at the bank’s helm. He currently is a distinguished professor of business practices on the faculty of Wake Forest University.
The University Economics Club is a project of the BB&T-supported Center for Economic Research which brings speakers to the university community on free-market approaches to public policy.
Dinner guests may choose from smoked cheddar stuffed chicken or maple glazed wild salmon.
