WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — West Liberty University student Ethan Marks has raised $1,000 in support of ALS research through Phi Delta Theta’s Iron Phi program, combining philanthropy with personal athletic achievement.
Marks, a junior from Ripley, West Virginia, is pursuing majors in History and General Business Administration at West Liberty University.
Throughout the 2025–2026 academic year, Marks worked toward his fundraising goal as part of Iron Phi, a national initiative that challenges members to support The ALS Association while completing a personal endurance goal.
Marks reached his $1,000 milestone on March 24, contributing to ongoing efforts to fund research and support individuals affected by ALS.
As part of the program, participants must also complete a physical challenge. Marks set a goal to run five 5K races during the academic year and has already completed four, with his final race planned for this spring.
“I feel very accomplished in my achievement of raising the money for my goal, and I hope I was able to help a little bit in curing this horrible disease,” said Marks.
The Iron Phi program is Phi Delta Theta’s philanthropic initiative benefiting ALS research, encouraging members nationwide to pursue excellence in fundraising, fitness, and service.
