The Student Health Service staff provides personal medical care to students (residents and commuters) by appointment and walk-in. Most treatment, medications, supplies, tests, and services are provided free of charge to WLU students. Student Health Services does not bill health insurance. Available services include:
- Treatment of medical problems
- Dispensing of medication
- First aid
- Suture removal
- Blood pressure screening
- Pregnancy testing
- Flu/Strep testing
- Covid testing
- Allergy injections – by appointment only. The student must furnish the serum along with the instructions from the allergist.
- PPD testing (Tuberculosis testing)-Mondays and Tuesdays. (Fee of $10.00.)
- Seasonal Flu Shots (fee)
- Meningitis Vaccine (fee)
- Mental Health Counseling is available at WLU’s Counseling Services.
- Students needing accommodations are encouraged to reach out to the Student Success Center.
- Athletic Training Resources for athletes.
- STD testing/Birth Control
Students can be seen at Doctors Urgent Care of Wheeling.
Confidential Services can be received through Wheeling Health Right.
Confidential Services can be received through Adagio/Cornerstone Care.
Confidential STD testing (only) can be received at the Ohio County Health Department. - Loan of crutches or canes for a two-week period. If the item is not returned or is damaged, the borrower will be charged for the replacement.

In order to provide the best care possible we require the completion of health forms which can be completed online through our electronic Student Health Portal. Full-time students (both residential and commuter) and any part time or graduate student wishing to use Student Health Services must submit a physical. The physical must have been completed within 12 months of starting classes. Due to NCAA requirements, athletes must have a physical within 6 months of starting classes.
