ALUMNI “WALL OF HONOR” The West Liberty University Alumni Board of Directors instituted a project in 1990 to demonstrate to current students, visitors, and friends that the college has some very successful graduates. This project, known as the “Alumni Wall of Honor,” is a dramatic way to honor some of the college’s most distinguished alumni and display pride in the accomplishments of its graduates. The concept was suggested by then Associate Professor of Physics Robert W. Schramm, who is a 1958 graduate of the college and a 2002 Alumni Wall of Honor inductee. The Alumni Wall of Honor is housed in the south end of the Union known as the Alumni Lounge.
Larry W Moreland
Inducted 2007Larry W. Moreland earned a B.S. in biology from West Liberty State College in 1979. He earned his M.D. from West Virginia University in 1983 and finished his residency at WVU in 1987 as Chief Medical Resident. Moreland completed a Rheumatology Fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1990. He currently holds several appointments and positions including that of a visiting professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine; chief of UPSOM Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology; director of the Pittsburgh Arthritis Institute; and hold a Margaret Jane Miller Endowed Professorship for Arthritis Research. Moreland is a member of numerous professional and scientific societies and has received many awards and honors throughout his stellar career. He is a prolific writer having contributed to more than 125 articles; 85 invited published papers, monographs, books and book chapters; and more than 180 published abstracts. His research has resulted in millions of dollars in grant funding. Dr. Moreland sits on the boards of 14 organizations and foundations and over the years served on more than 60 committees and panels. He currently resides in Upper St. Clair, Pa., with his wife, Susan.
