ALUMNI “WALL OF HONOR” The West Liberty University Alumni Board of Directors instituted a project in 1990 to demonstrate to current students, visitors, and friends that the college has some very successful graduates. This project, known as the “Alumni Wall of Honor,” is a dramatic way to honor some of the college’s most distinguished alumni and display pride in the accomplishments of its graduates. The concept was suggested by then Associate Professor of Physics Robert W. Schramm, who is a 1958 graduate of the college and a 2002 Alumni Wall of Honor inductee. The Alumni Wall of Honor is housed in the south end of the Union known as the Alumni Lounge.
Annissa Monseau Anderson
Inducted 2018Anissa Monseau Anderson is a 1994 graduate of West Liberty University’s Sarah Whitaker Glass School of Dental Hygiene. She went on to earn both a master’s in orthodontics and doctoral degree in dental surgery at West Virginia University. Anderson has been a private practice orthodontist since 2001.
While at WLU, she was a member of the volleyball team, a statistician for the wrestling team and an academic tutor, member of the Xi Beta Phi honorary mathematics and science fraternity and a student representative of Protestant Campus Ministry. She also was West Liberty’s WVIAC female scholar athlete in 1994.
She has served as a part-time associate clinical professor of orthodontics at West Virginia University and is serves on the admissions committee for the WVU Orthodontic Residency Program. Anderson also serves as secretary/treasurer of the West Virginia Association of Orthodontists and Dentofacial Orthopedists.
Anderson was instrumental in the formation and operation of the Wetzel County Oral Health Improvement Council, providing free dental screenings to students in Wetzel County Schools. She developed and presented the Expanded Duties for Orthodontic Assistants course at WVU since 2006. A recognized speaker on orthodontic technique and auxiliary, she has appeared at West Virginia Dental Association, Southern Association of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists and the British Orthodontic Society meetings.
She is a member of the WLU Foundation Board and the WLU Wrestling Advisory Board and continues to sponsor athletic and community programs. Anderson also is an accomplished pianist and avid runner.
She and her husband of 22 years, Danny, reside in New Martinsville with their daughters, Alavia, Kayna and Jessa.
