William Sparks – 1970

William Harold Sparks II, 69, died peacefully on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Wheeling Hospital.

He was born October 30, 1946, in Wheeling, WV the son of the late William Harold Sparks I and Jeanette (Simms) Sparks.

A graduate of West Liberty State College in 1970, he worked more than 20 years as the foreman of Centre Foundry and Machine Company in Warwood and retired from Walters Construction Company in December 2014. He was a member of Stone United Presbyterian Church and served as a veteran with the United States Army Reserve.

He was deeply devoted to his wife and family and loved each of his dogs who were considered part of his family as well. Most recently he got great joy from his two dachshunds Jack and Jill. Bill enjoyed birding, fishing, genealogy, reading, woodworking making curios and clocks, and was a devoted Cleveland Browns fan.

Surviving are his wife Janet (Wineman) Sparks of 46 years; his daughter and son-in-law Melanie (Sparks) Noice and William Noice of Wheeling, and his son William H Sparks III also of Wheeling; a mother-in-law Corneal (Butler) Alessi, and friend Lewis Bator; brother-in-law and his wife Lonnie and Kathie (Billick) Wineman of Wheeling; a sister-in-law and husband Sandra (Wineman) Braun and Joe Braun of Adena, Ohio; many nieces and nephews; four close cousins, Bob Upton of Wheeling, Emily (Straub) Wilson of Wheeling, and David Zapka of Wellsburg; and his best friend who was also his best man at his wedding, Tom Gornik of Wheeling.
