“Over the years, I had the good fortune of meeting and working with so many dedicated and inspiring alumni. My view of the alumni association is that of a great big family and, although I never left the Hilltop, I feel like I’m coming home to a place where I belong,” Witt said.
In addition to working with alumni and community partners, he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Liberty Oaks Alumni House Bed and Breakfast.
He began his employment at his alma mater in 1997 as director of the Alumni Association, a position he held for more than 14 years. During that time, he also served as a development officer and was responsible for planned gift management. In addition, he was an instructor of hospitality and tourism management for the Gary E. West College of Business and was co-owner of a local travel agency.
Prior to that, Witt was manager and director of the Wheeling Artisan Center under the direction of the Wheeling National Heritage Area Corporation.
He began his professional career as a sales executive for Oglebay Resort and Conference Center.
A native of Wheeling, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree, with a specialization in travel and tourism management from West Liberty in 1992. He also earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from West Virginia University.
Witt also is a real estate agent with Kennen and Kennen Realtors, where he began in 2012. He was awarded rookie of the year by the Wheeling Board of Realtors and became a top-producing agent in just two years.
Witt is married to West Liberty alumna Denise (DelGallo) Witt, and together they reside in Triadelphia with their daughter, Emily.
