REQUIRED: HUMAN RESEARCH ETHICS TRAINING
Any person affiliated with West Liberty University that will be conducting research with human participants is required to complete ethics training.
Ethics training is REQUIRED for ALL researchers involved in the project BEFORE submitting any forms to the IRB. Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) is the provider for the training.
The required training for the majority of human subjects researchers is: “Social Behavioral Educational (SBE) Basic course”. Depending on the type of research proposal, some research may fall under “Biomedical Research” training. Additional or alternative ethics training may be required depending on the type of research proposal. Contact the WLU IRB chair for more information or for clarification on what ethics training is required for your project: irb@westliberty.edu
Proof of ethics training completion is required as part of the WLU IRB application process. You should keep a pdf file of the completion certificate(s) for your records. The WLU IRB has NO access to your CITI account, therefore it is important that you remember your log in information and password. You will need to contact CITI directly for any inquiries on your account
