CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) RESOURCES
WLU relaxed its mandatory mask requirement on March 21, 2022 and face masks became optional indoors on campus. This is due to the nationally reported slowdown of infection and hospitalizations from COVID-19, and the growing rate of vaccination and boosters.
Individuals are welcome to continue to wear masks if they choose to do so. Professors too may request that masks are worn as a safety precaution in classrooms as they deem fit. Spring Commencement 2022 is in person, no masks required.
Students enrolled in the Health Sciences, (dental hygiene, laboratory science, nursing, physician assistant studies and the speech and behavioral health clinics) must follow the mask rule of each program.
Students who are immunocompromised may receive an N95 mask in Student Health Services, or in the case of employees, in the Business Office, located in Shaw Hall.

Vaccinations remain the best line of defense against COVID. For details, please visit the CDC’s website.
Student Health Services is located on the lower level of Shaw Hall, near the Campus Police Department. Students can be seen by walk-in or appointment Monday-Friday between 7am-3pm. Extended hours until 5 pm are available by appointment.
Students who have been exposed to COVID or who are experiencing fever, cough, or other respiratory symptoms should call ahead at 304-336-8049 for an appointment.

After hours, students can be seen at Doctors Urgent Care of Wheeling Monday-Friday 8am-4pm and Saturday-Sunday, 8am-noon.
If you are having trouble breathing, have persistent pain or pressure in the chest, confusion, inability to wake or stay awake, bluish lips or face, please call 911.

COVID-19 Response Team
The COVID-19 Response Team meets throughout the year to prepare and discuss campus response to the pandemic. Its purpose is to ensure a safe, prepared, responsive campus . It is co-chaired by Executive Director of Housing and Student Life Marcella Snyder and Director of Health Services Christy Bennington, RN BSN. Nothing is more important than safety on the Hilltop and we thank you for following health guidelines.

Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).
