ADMISSIONS
Admission of students to the Pre-Speech Pathology and Audiology (SPA) program is determined first by being admitted to West Liberty University. Once the student completes all general studies requirements and pre-SPA requirements, the student may apply to the Bachelor of Science degree program in Speech Pathology and Audiology. Please see all admission requirements listed below.
Requirements for Admission:
Pre-Speech Pathology and Audiology
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- High School G.P.A. of 3.3 or better on a 4.0 scale
- Enhanced ACT composite score of 20 or combined minimum score of 987 on the re-centered SAT
- A score of 19 or better on the math portion of the ACT or a 500 on the SAT
- A score of 18 or better on the English portion of the ACT or a 450 on the SAT
- Transfer students must meet G.P.A. of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale
Prior to admission into the B.S. degree program in SPA, students will complete the following courses:

Bachelor of Science Degree Program in Speech Pathology and Audiology
The B.S. degree program in Speech Pathology and Audiology accepts those students who meet the criteria for admissions by the spring semester of their sophomore year. To be considered for admission, the applicant must:
- Submit a completed Speech Pathology and Audiology Program application form by January 21st, no exceptions
- Demonstrate scholastic competence as demonstrated by:
- A minimum overall G.P.A of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale
- “C” or higher letter grade in all introductory SPA courses (150, 151, 152, 156)
- Completion of general studies requirements
- Demonstrate professional attitudes, writing, and communication skills as evidenced by:
- Letter of intent
- Two letters of recommendation: One professional/academic reference and one personal reference
- Background check with “unremarkable” findings and a drug screen with “clean” results.
- All requirements will have a formal review completed by Speech Pathology & Audiology Admissions Committee
Requirements for Transfer Students
Following acceptance into the university, students will be expected to complete the Pre-Speech Pathology and Audiology coursework prior to application into the program.
