A. To ensure well-qualified candidates and competent graduates, the following qualifications for the Master of Arts in Education Degree Program have been established. For unconditional admission, the applicant must:

[su_spoiler title=”Q. Do I need to have an undergraduate degree in Education to qualify for the MAED program?”]

A. No. A student must possess a baccalaureate degree with a minimum 2.50 GPA from a regionally accredited institution to be considered for admission.[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”Q. Where can I take the MAT?”]

A. Group administrations for the MAT are available only to West Liberty University applicants and current West Liberty University students. For more information, or to make an appointment to take the MAT, please check out the Center for Student Success. [su_spoiler title=” Q. Where is the Highlands Center located?”]

A. Take Interstate 70, exit 10. If coming from the east, turn right at the end of the exit. If coming from the west, curve to the right at the end of the exit ramp. Proceed on Cabela Drive past WesBanco, Wendy’s, Target, and Kohl’s. At the light immediately after Kohl’s, turn right. You will be facing Marquee Cinemas. The WLU Highlands Center is on your left.

For the easiest parking and entrance to the second floor, go around the fountain in front of the movie theater and proceed towards Indigo Joe’s. At the end of the driveway, loop around and head back to the West Liberty building. The first doors on your right are the entrance. There will be stairs immediately on your right and an elevator to your left that take you directly to the WLU entrance.

A. A graduate student is classified as Full Time when enrolled in 9 or more hours during the fall or spring semester.

A. The beginning of each semester, students no longer have to sign the bill. Students accept the Financial Aid on their WINS. For more information, please visit the Business Office.

A. West Liberty University offers a 36 credit hour course of study leading to a Master of Arts in Education degree (M.A. Ed.). The College of Education program holds national accreditation from NCATE for its advanced program. The course work includes

Each of the classes are 3 credit-hours. The classes are blended and will meet as face to face and on-line to equal fifteen (15) sessions during an eight week time period during a regular semester or a six week time period during a summer session. When the courses meet face to face they will be conducted at the West Liberty Highlands Center in Wheeling, WV.

[su_spoiler title=”Q. Is Financial Aid available to graduate students? “]

A. Students in the Master of Arts in Education Program taking a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester may qualify for Financial Aid.  Each student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and a WLU Application for Financial Aid each year to apply for federal and institutional financial aid at West Liberty University.  The FAFSA code for WLU is 003823.
