New Music Programming

As West Liberty comes back from spring break, WGLZ will be introducing some new music formats. Previously, WGLZ had mostly been a Top 40 format. However, WGLZ is expanding it’s horizon and looking to broaden it’s listener base. WGLZ previously aired an Unsigned Artists playlist every night at 10:00 PM. Now, we will be airing the Unsigned Artists playlist every morning from 7:00-9:00 AM in addition to every night at 10:00 PM. Next, every night at 6:00 PM will be the all Rock hour. Lastly, we will be airing a new playlist called Something for Everyone. During the hours that it airs, you will hear Rock, R&B, Unsigned Artists, Soul, World, Pop, New Age, Metal, Jazz, Latin, Electronica, Easy Listening, Folk, Country, Alternative & Punk, Classical, and Hip Hop. You can hear this when tuning in at 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM, and 11:00 PM. The other 17 hours will still consist of the Top 40 Hot Clock. We look forward to having you tune in and joining us in our new endeavors. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, WGLZ can be reached by email at wglz@westliberty.edu.

West Liberty University sophomore Walker Polivka was recently named as a recipient of the Abe Voron Award. Awarded through the Broadcast Education Association, Walker will receive a $3,000 scholarship for the 2018-19 school year. Polivka was one of only nine students from seven different campuses nationally to be awarded a scholarship after taking part in the association’s 2018-2019 competition. The winners were selected by Peter Orlik and the BEA Scholarship Committee at its November meeting in Washington DC.

Polivka is currently the general manager of WGLZ and has a weekly radio show on Thursdays at 4:00 PM. He plans to continue in the broadcasting field after commencement, working either behind the scene or on-air.
