Academic Coaching

Academic Coaching

Build stronger study habits. Strengthen your skills. Succeed with confidence.

Personalized Support

for Academic Success

Academic Coaching at West Liberty University helps students become active, engaged learners. Unlike tutoring, coaching is not course-specific. Instead, you’ll work one-on-one with a Graduate Assistant to develop strategies that support success across all your classes. Sessions are proactive, practical, and tailored to you—so you’re prepared before challenges arise.

We encourage students to meet weekly or biweekly, especially early in the semester.

Some students find the transition to college challenging, especially when it comes to taking detailed, effective notes. Exploring different note-taking methods can help, and recording lectures may be useful if notes need clarification. Students should notify their instructor in advance and complete this form prior to recording any class sessions.

Preparing for college exams can feel overwhelming, especially since they often cover weeks of material. Unlike high school, last-minute studying is rarely enough. Use the resources below to build an effective study plan and prepare with confidence.

College brings more freedom—and more responsibility. Managing unstructured time can be challenging, and distractions can quickly take priority over academics. Finding the right time-management strategy looks different for everyone. Explore the resources below to build a system that works for you.
