On November 4th 2022, Catherine Southworth had the pleasure of interviewing one of her good friends Alanna Lynch, here at West Liberty. Alanna is a second semester sophomore here majoring in Broadcasting. She is also enlisted in the U.S Air Force which was the principal discussion in the first part of our interview.
Catherine asked Alanna a series of questions regarding her experiences in the Air Force so far along with what advice she would give to anyone who is considering enlisting. Catherine gathered that Alanna has been in the Air Force for almost 3 years now and she absolutely loves it. She loves her base, her job, and the people that she works with. Alanna works with Aircrew flight equipment where she manages, maintains, inspects, and repairs parachutes and other equipment in Martinsburg, Maryland. Alanna’s advice to anyone who is considering joining the Airforce was to make sure that they know what they are getting into. She stated that it is a lot of mental and physical conditioning that goes on that takes a lot of willpower and both mental and physical strength.
The second part of the interview revolved around her experiences at West Liberty so far. Alanna is currently the vice president of Alpha Xi Delta along with being the Captain of the West Liberty Dance Team. Alanna always knew that she wanted to be a part of a sorority from hearing all about her sister’s experience. She wanted to be more involved in school and be a part of something where she can learn and be pushed to be her best self. She decided to join the dance team from her past experience doing dance in high school. The West Liberty dance team was quite small when Alanna started, but she was able to recruit a lot of girls and have a very successful team. Sitting down with Alanna was a rewarding experience for both Catherine and other viewers who are curious or would like to join the U.S Air Force or any of the other activities that she partakes in.
