In this “Distinctive Discussions” interview, host Haley Norris talks with Joshua Dobkin over the WGLZ Request Line, an art director who works on sets of TV shows and films. He grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dobkin originally was a computer science major but changed his mind and decided to pursue film at Full Sail University. He estimates that he has been a part of over 400 productions, big and small over the past several years.

In the first part, Joshua talks about his early interests and what made him switch from a computer science to a film major. Dobkin explains his decision and how he became an art director when he moved to California.

In the second part, Joshua talks about some of those 400 productions that he has done. He goes through what he considers a “normal workday” for a production and gives his advice on how someone can work in the TV/Film industry.
