In this episode of “Academic Affairs,” Asia invited Brad Forshey in the studio to talk about “First-Gen” or first generation student athletes that struggle with school.

Brad Forshey, The Athletic Director at West Liberty, is originally from Waverly, W.Va. where he first started his coaching career as an assistant at Williamstown High School, before making the transition to the college ranks at West Liberty.

In the first part of this interview, Forshey talks about the First Generation Athletes. He talks about how he has first hand experience as a First Generation student. He also Discusses Coaches Impact on First Generation Athletes.

In the second part of this interview, Brad Forshey got to talk about the mental health in athletes. Asia and Brad Forshey then discuss how important mental health is, not only in student athletes, but between all students here at West Liberty. Brad Forshey also talks about the Stigma behind mental health.
