Alex is from Shadyside, Ohio. He originally went to Marshall University as a sports journalism major. He decided to transfer to West Liberty as an incoming sophomore and switched to a broadcast major.
The thing Alex likes doing most is being a play-by-play announcer. He currently calls football, volleyball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, baseball and softball at Wheeling University. When he’s not calling games he enjoys watching sports. His favorite is baseball, but he also likes watching basketball and football. While Alex’s life revolves around sports, he also enjoys music. His top three genres are rap, hip-hop and country. His favorite artist is the late Juice WRLD. He describes his music taste as “specific and weird.” Even so, he is always looking for something new to listen to.
Alex knows he wants to be a play-by-play announcer. Ideally, it would be for the Pittsburgh Pirates, but he is open to calling games for any professional baseball or basketball team. He realizes he’s probably going to start in a smaller, local market and will have to work his way up. However, he is contemplating enrolling in Wheeling University’s graduate program and pursuing a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership with a focus in athletic administration. If a job in sports sparks his interest after completing his undergraduate at West Liberty, he’ll forgo the M.S.O.L. and enter the sports industry.
As for how Alex will use his voice in the media in the future, it’ll be as a sportscaster.
