Jacob Phillis was born and raised in the outskirts of New Alexandria, OH. He attended Buckeye Local High School, graduating with the class of 2022. In the spring of 2024, he transferred from Eastern Gateway Community College to West Liberty University.
Jacob is currently a sophomore and is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting. After graduation, he plans to work for either a news company or a movie studio as a camera operator, along with other duties that come alongside that.
Hobbies Jacob enjoys are writing, going for walks in nature, and video games. In his past, Jacob was published as an author in the compilation of “I Thought I Heard A Cardinal Sing: Ohio’s Appalachian Voices.” Jacob also enjoys going on walks in all sorts of places, be it city or countryside. Jacob is an avid video game enthusiast, with a few personal favorites being Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Pac-Man. Currently, Jacob’s video game collection stands tall at around 500+ games.
Jacob hopes that through learning through WGLZ, he will not only learn how to podcast and do radio work, but be able to find his “inner voice,” and be able to influence the lives of those who tune in on the station.
