Mathematics

Mathematics ProgramsWelcome to Mathematics at West Liberty University. West Liberty University offers a Bachelor of Science in Data Science, a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education with a mathematics certification, a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Childhood Education with a mathematics emphasis, and a minor in Mathematics. Each program blends training in mathematics with traditional liberal arts education in the natural sciences, social sciences, fine arts, and humanities. Many of our undergraduate students gain valuable experience working with faculty on research projects.

Data Science

Our newest mathematics degree is a B.S. in Data Science. Data science is a discipline that lies at the intersection of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. Our program is project focused, allowing students to build an impressive portfolio of data science projects throughout their four years in the program. Combined with essential mathematical and statistical theory, this program will prepare students for immediate employment upon graduation. To find out more about this program, please visit our detailed program page here.

Education

The B.A. in Secondary Education prepares teacher candidates for mathematics certification in grades 5-Adult, and is housed in the College of Education and Human Performance. To find out more about this program, please visit the program page here.

The B.A. in Middle Childhood Education prepares teacher candidates for middle school certification in grades 5-9. Students in this program must select two areas of emphasis, and mathematics is one of those areas of specialization. This degree program is housed in the College of Education and Human Performance. To find out more about this program, please visit the program page here.

Mathematics Minor

The minor in Mathematics is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in Calculus and modern mathematics and is open to all students at West Liberty University.
