West Liberty University Highlands Center Marks 10 Years

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Aug. 14, 2019 — West Liberty University invites the public to a celebration marking the 10th anniversary of the opening of the WLU Highlands Center at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 24.

President Stephen Greiner will welcome guests and speak briefly, followed by President Emeritus Dr. John McCullough and former Alumni Director Larry Williams.

Both McCullough and Williams held leadership positions at West Liberty at the time of the Highlands opening in 2009. McCullough served as WLU’s executive vice president at the time and Williams was the alumni director.

Dean Thomas Michaud joins Highlands Center manager Savannah Scott in preparing for the 10th Anniversary of the Highlands Center on Aug. 24.

The Highlands Center was the culmination of their efforts and dream as they sought to meet the educational needs of working adults.

“I am grateful for the support of our alumni, staff and friends who supported the Highlands Center and am pleased that this site continues to serve so many of our non-traditional students and others daily,” said McCullough.

WLU’s Highlands campus is onveniently located in the Highlands Shopping Complex.

Also speaking will be Dean of the School of Professional Studies Dr. Thomas Michaud. He will update attendees on the Regents Bachelor of Arts (RBA), the Bachelor of Applied Science and the Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership and Administration (BLA) degree programs, popular accelerated degree programs offered at the Highlands and online that serve working adults.

Michaud will also introduce WLU’s new Director of the Master of Arts in Education degree program, Dr. Nicole Ennis. This master’s program for professional educators is housed at the Highlands campus.

Other educational programming that takes place at the Highlands includes Community University, an outreach for lifelong learning (non-credit) open to those age 50 or older.

Topper the Bear also will attend the event and offer photo ops. Plus Mooey’s Frozen Yogurt is extending a discount to attendees interested in purchasing a treat.
