“We are pleased to report that our new student applications for Fall 2016 are up eight percent over last year. We also have an overall increase in our recent graduation rate, which also is up by eight percent, we are looking forward to good things to come,” said Vice President of Student Services Scott Cook.

West Liberty University’s graduation rate increase reflects a number that exceeds the average number compiled by that of peer institutions, according to the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission’s six-year graduation rate study for 2013 – 2014.

Additionally, the academic profile of WLU’s Fall 2015 freshman class increased. The most recent freshman class earned an average ACT score of 21.2 and average high school GPA of 3.35.

“This is the highest academic profile that we’ve enjoyed in more than 10 years. Our students are intelligent, hard working achievers who are focused on success. We will continue to strive to provide them with the best environment in which to learn and build their future,” he said.

Cook also serves as registrar and has worked at WLU for 25 years. He leads an admissions team that is housed in Shaw Hall’s Enrollment Center, the centralized location for prospective student services.

The next admissions event is Black and Gold Day planned for Thursday, Jan. 28. This afternoon event offers prospective students a chance to explore campus, meet faculty and administrators and discover the opportunities available at WLU. It takes place from 12:30 – 4 p.m. and ends with a complimentary dinner in the Marketplace.
