WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Feb. 21, 2020 — “Ink, Feathers, Antlers, Fur” is the name of the art exhibition now on display at West Liberty University’s Nutting Gallery.
Featuring many images of nature, the exhibition features the screenprints and ink drawings of Logan Schmitt, a Wheeling artist. It remains open to the public through March 19.
Schmitt is an illustrator who grew up in Wheeling and spent many happy hours in the woods and observing nature.
He went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in illustration from the Columbus College of Art & Design.
His fascination with nature and the small places of the forest are ever-present in his work and he relies on these for a continual source of inspiration.
Stylistically, Schmitt uses lots of lines and flat colors to present animals and other natural elements in an otherworldly light. He is known for his posters for bands and t-shirt designs.
Located in the Hall of Fine Arts, the Nutting Gallery is an outreach of the College of Arts and Communication.
It is dedicated to educating, enriching and engaging students and the public through art exhibitions of the highest quality and to promoting the visual arts within the WLU community.
All exhibitions at the Nutting Gallery are free and open to the public.
The Nutting Gallery is open 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Evenings and weekends are by arrangement only.
