WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., March 19, 2015 — The public is invited to enjoy a spirited spring performance by Dr. Gerald Lee, professor of piano at West Liberty University. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 26 in Elbin Auditorium of College Hall.
“Please join me for an evening of piano music. The recital program features colorful tone pictures by Isaac Albéniz, Maurice Ravel, and Sergei Rachmaninoff,” Lee said. “In addition, the program will include Robert Schumann’s Fantasie, Op. 17, a masterpiece full of great passion and energy.”
Dr. Lee earned piano performance degrees from Illinois Wesleyan University, Indiana University, and the University of Michigan. He maintains an extensive schedule of solo and chamber music performances and has been a prizewinner in several piano competitions
He currently serves as chairman of competitions and first vice president for the West Virginia Music Teachers’ Association. He is a frequent adjudicator for piano competitions, such as those held by MTNA at both the state and division levels. Passionate about the works of Alexander Scriabin, he continues to present lecture-recitals featuring Scriabin’s piano sonatas at numerous College Music Society conferences.
West Liberty University’s Division of Music is part of the College of Arts and Communications, which includes the departments of journalism, communication studies and visual arts, along with theatre and music. Undergraduate degrees are offered in music education, music performance and music technology.
