WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., March 22, 2016 — West Liberty University’s advanced women’s chorus will present a concert “Cantamus: A Celebration of Women in Music” at 7 p.m., Friday, April 1 in the Interfaith Chapel, located on the Hoge Quadrangle.
Free and open to the public, the musical performance will include a variety of music composed and performed by women.
“This is a performance that showcases our talented female students. The concert features music about women and by women. It will include a broad range of styles including everything from chant to modern show tunes and even poetry. It will also feature a string quartet and a few special guests,” said Dr. Scott Glysson, director of Choral Activities and an assistant professor of music.
Students include Gabby Bennett, Follansbee, W.Va.; Elizabeth Conley, Martinsburg, W.Va.; Anna Gross, Martinsburg, W.Va.; Hannah Guidish, Loran, Ohio; Kassidi Reitter, Wellsburg, W.Va.; Lindsay Six, Follansbee, W.Va.; Amanda Tamplen, Charles Town, W.Va. and Emily Wade, Sistersville, Ohio.
West Liberty University’s Department of Music and Theater is housed within the College of Arts and Communication. It offers the Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance degree, the Bachelor of Arts in Music Education degree and the Bachelor of Music Technology degree programs.
