Biography
I am an applied mathematician with over 20 years of experience in education and mathematical research. My research interests are at the intersection of applied mathematics and algorithm development. Specific areas include control theory, numerical solutions to systems of differential equations, bioinformatics, and data science. The courses I teach range from College Algebra and Introductory Statistics through upper level applied math courses like Probability Theory and Introduction to Machine Learning.
On the personal side of things, I grew up in rural Southwest Virginia (Dickenson County). After high school, I spent a few years in the Air Force before going to graduate school at Texas Tech. My personal hobbies include hikes in the woods, running, and walking my dogs. Additional hobbies include dining at nice restaurants and completing home improvement projects with my girlfriend Kerry.
