ETS Praxis Update 7/13/2020:

We are pleased to inform you that registration for the next wave of Praxis® tests at home will begin on July 20, with tests available for administration on August 1. Previously announced tests in this next group include:

Additional tests will open for registration on July 20 and become available for administration on September 1. These include:

After the launch of these new titles, ETS will offer more than 70 Praxis assessments for at home testing. These tests comprise the vast majority of our program and 80% of our testing volume.

ETS Praxis Update 6/27/2020:

We have registered more than 62,000 Praxis® exam candidates nationally for our at home testing solution. Now more of your candidates can take advantage of this option, thanks to the additional second wave of tests that launched on June 1 and the added ability to test with Mac® operating systems. I’m happy to share that a recent survey of our at-home test takers indicated that 91% were satisfied with their ProctorU® experience!

Prometric® test centers continue to reopen as well. While capacity is limited due to safety and social distancing requirements, candidates now have an option to test in person. You can find the latest status of Prometric test centers on their website: prometric.com/site-openings.

In an effort to allow candidates additional opportunities to test, the following assessments are being added to the July testing windows for in-person testing centers only:

5023 — Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education
5051 — Technology Education
5135 — Art: Content and Analysis
5163 — Geometry
5358 — Gifted Education
5372 — Special Education: Teaching Students with Behavioral Disorders/Emotional Disturbances
5531 — Pre-Kindergarten Education
5545 — Special Education: Score Knowledge and Severe to Profound Applications
5691 — Special Education: Early Childhood
5701 — Agriculture
5841 — World Languages Pedagogy
We are aware that our Customer Service wait times are longer than desired and we apologize for these delays. We continue to receive and address a very high volume of calls, all while our customer service team is operating remotely. Candidates do have the option of handling some tasks such as cancellations and rescheduling on their own through their online Praxis account, and at home tests can also be rescheduled through ProctorU. We will continue to do all that we can to address this in the days and weeks ahead to support test-taker needs.

ETS Praxis Update 6/3/2020:

Since registration opened for Praxis® tests at home on Friday, May 15, more than 36,000 candidates have registered and 4,000 tests have been successfully completed.

Just as important, we have seen a high success rate — 98% of candidates who started their tests have been able to complete them. Unsuccessful attempts have been due to browser issues or no-shows, with only a handful being attributed to system failure. In the event a candidate is unable to test through no fault of their own, reschedules are available free of charge.

Two exciting updates:

As mentioned previously, we are pleased to advise that Prometric® testing centers around the country have begun administering Praxis tests again. While they are still subject to state and local requirements, many have already tested Praxis candidates successfully under new safety and social distancing guidelines. For a complete list of Prometric testing centers now open, visit the Prometric site openings page.

Non-Prometric managed test centers are determining their availability on a case-by-case basis. To check test centers availability in your state, use our Praxis test center search tool.

ETS Praxis Update 5/5/2020:

General Information

ETS is planning to provide a convenient, flexible and safe option for testing while test centers are closed. They are hoping that by providing access to tests remotely, it will help minimize program disruptions and teacher-candidates receive their certification for entry into classrooms this Fall. The tests are identical in content, format and on-screen experience to those taken at a test center. Tests are scores the same way, offered at the same price, and include the same features (ex. ability to skip and come back to questions, on screen calculator, etc.). Test score reporting will also occur on the same schedule.

Delivery Method

Testing will take place through personal desktop and laptop computers meeting specific criteria. Tablets and mobile phones may not be used.

Test sessions will be monitored in real-time through the use of human proctors and artificial intelligence technology. The entire session will be recorded on video.

Tests must be taken within the United States and its territories

A link will be provided prior to registration where test takers may check to see if their equipment meets requirements for Praxis at Home Testing.

There are extensive test environment requirements which must be reviewed prior to taking the test at home to ensure success in completing the test without issues.

As a part of the process, all participants must create a new ProctorU account (even if they previously had an account). Information about ProctorU may be accessed at http://www.proctoru.com.

As part of the process, proctors will verify a test taker’s ID taking photos of the test taker and their ID documents.

Test-takers may contact ETS customer support for details about rescheduling or cancelling Praxis Test at Home from 8:00am – 6:00pm ET via phone at 1-800-7729476.

Accommodations can be requested through ETS Disability Services as usual at https://www.ets.org/praxis/register/disabilities.
