The Art & Science of Imagination and Innovation Pre-College Program

June 24 – June 29, 2012

The Art & Science of Imagination and Innovation is a 5-day interactive pre-college program open to high school students. The program will be presented by West Liberty University with support from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation.

The program will provide the opportunity for selected students to explore the connections between the arts and sciences with West Liberty University faculty from the College of Arts & Communications, College of Education and College of Sciences and other experienced professionals.  Throughout the week, the students will participate in workshops and other related activities in both the arts and sciences.

Students will also be able to participate in series of workshops focused on the skills needed to be successful in college. Topics will include effective study and note taking skills, test taking techniques, and time management. Workshops will be led by faculty from the College of Education at West Liberty University and other individuals.

There is no fee for participation in the program. All materials, on-campus lodging and meals will be provided.

The week will begin with a light dinner and program overview on Sunday, June 24, 2012 for participating students and their parents/guardians and conclude after lunch on Friday, June 29, 2012. Students will stay on the West Liberty University campus under the supervision of college counselors who will supervise and monitor all program activities.

The program is limited to 100 students who will be high school Juniors or Seniors during the 2012-2013 school year.  Students must be currently enrolled at a high school in either any county in West Virginia or in an IU 1 school district in Pennsylvania.
