Community and Organizational Leadership

This track prepares professionals for leadership positions within their chosen profession in educational, nonprofit, and/or public organizations and the understanding of why and how great leaders flourish in society and their fields. Coursework includes leadership, motivation and creativity theories, human relations of leadership, instructional design practices, social justice reform, understanding community characteristics and relations, and application to practical, real-life leadership opportunities.

Required courses in Education Common Core (12 hours):

  1. EDUC 502 Professional Writing (online every semester)
  2. EDUC 507 Research Methods (online every semester)
  3. EDUC 512 Assessment and Data Literacy (online every semester)
  4. EDUC 581 Capstone (16-week course during Fall or Spring only)

Required courses for this area of emphasis (18 hours):

  • EDL 530 Social Justice and Change
  • IDL 502 Instructional Design Across Industry
  • EDUC 506 Motivation and Develop Creativity
  • EDUC 517 Community Partnerships
  • EDL 500 Leadership Theory and Motivation
  • EDL 520 Human Resources and Person Issues

Admissions

  • Official transcripts of any bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, with a 2.5 GPA.
  • Start the Program in January, March, May, June, August, or October
