Applying for Aid
Applying for financial aid at West Liberty University is simple. Follow the steps below to complete your FAFSA, review your aid offer, and take the next steps toward paying for college.
Start with
the Basics
Financial aid helps make your WLU education affordable. From grants and scholarships to loans and work study, most aid begins with one simple application—the FAFSA. Use this guide to stay on track and avoid delays.
Your Aid,
Step by Step
Complete each step in order to ensure your financial aid is processed as quickly as possible.
Step 1: Complete the FAFSA
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online
- Add West Liberty University’s school code: 003823
- Use your FSA ID to sign and submit the form
Step 2: Get Accepted to WLU
- You must be admitted to West Liberty University before aid can be awarded
- Financial aid cannot be processed until acceptance is confirmed
Step 3: Submit Any Required Documents
- Check your email and WINS account for requests from Financial Aid
- Complete and upload any additional forms as soon as possible
Step 4: Review Your Financial Aid Estimate
- Financial Aid Estimate Letters are typically sent mid-December for new students
- Processing usually takes 10–14 business days after documents are received
Step 5: Accept Your Financial Aid
- Sign and return your Financial Aid Estimate Letter
- Accept or decline each award to allow aid to apply to your account
Important Note:
First-time loan borrowers must complete Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note (MPN), and Work Study students must also apply for an on-campus job.
