The Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry is designed to develop a deep theoretical understanding of chemical principles and excellent laboratory techniques, thoroughly preparing students for a variety of scientific careers or advanced study.

Ideal if you want to:

  • Enter graduate school or research careers in chemistry or related fields.
  • Apply mathematics, physics, and deep conceptual problem-solving skills to chemical systems.
  • Pursue technical roles in pharmaceuticals, materials, or chemical manufacturing with strong lab training.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry: Biochemistry is designed to develop a deep understanding of chemical and biological principles and laboratory techniques in preparation for careers related to both chemistry and biology including pharmacy, medicinal chemistry, professional programs, and research.

Ideal if you want to:

  • Pursue careers in professional fields such as medical, dental, pharmacy, or other health-related professions.
  • Perform research in molecular biology, drug design, or the chemistry of living systems.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry: Pre-Pharmacy is designed to develop a deep understanding of chemical and biological principles and laboratory techniques in preparation for a professional degree in pharmacy. Students in this major will complete their first three years at West Liberty University then continue their education for a Doctorate in Pharmacy at select institutions.

Ideal if you want to:

  • Enter pharmacy school at an accelerated rate and receive a bachelor’s degree in the process.
