     Elissabeth Parsons, aka Dj Kool Kat, is a senior broadcasting major at West Liberty University. Some people think Elissabeth was born with a microphone in her hand, as her career in broadcasting started while she was still in 3rd grade. Elissabeth was a reporter for Kidz Newz, which aired locally on WTRF Channel 7 in Wheeling. The show aired through Channel 7’s parent company statewide to a potential audience of over a million people a week. In that capacity, Elissabeth was the first person ever in the new Cabela’s store, she was a roadie for the day for country music star Kathy Mattea, and segment anchored over a dozen science segments. Elissabeth also worked for the Wheeling Intelligencer\/News-Register’s teen page for a year, covering events in the Ohio Valley. She was a disc jockey on WPHP, all 4 of her high school years at Wheeling Park. In that time period, she interviewed country music icons Whispering Bill Anderson, Marty Stuart and Charlie Daniels.<\/p>\n

Elissabeth originally enrolled at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, where she established the first ever connection with the cultural district and the student run station, drawing interest from Disney as well as other touring outlets. Elissabeth transferred to West Liberty 2 years ago, because of the individual attention that is paid to each student at WLU. Elissabeth is currently majoring in Broadcasting with a double minor in Art\/Graphic Narrative.<\/p>\n

Elissabeth helps maintain the website station logs, does her weekly “Kool Kats Corner” show from 3-5 PM on Thursdays, and is currently producing special programming highlighting the careers of such legends as Charlie Daniels, Collin Raye and Pam Tillis, as well as covering events such as Voices Carry for Auberle, (with Donnie Iris, Joe Grushecky, Jeff Jimerson and over a dozen more Pittsburgh icons), and Farm Aid, with founders John Mellencamp, Neil Young, Dave Matthews and Willie Nelson.<\/p>\n

After graduation, Elissabeth plans on working either as an animation production director or as an entertainment reporter<\/p>\n
