Stephen Schiegel

Originally from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Stephen has lived for most of his life in Wheeling, West Virginia. He attended Wheeling Park High School and studied at Wheeling Jesuit University for two years before arriving at West Liberty University in the fall of 2017.

Stephen is a member of the WLU men’s soccer team. Having previously played for Wheeling Jesuit University and several youth clubs at the state and regional level, soccer is a perennial focus in Stephen’s life. Off the field, Stephen spends most of his time watching matches and reading soccer news from around the world.

Stephen’s interest in music was fostered from a young age by his parents’ CD collection. Nowadays, he has a particular interest in sample-based hip hop and describes his taste in music as eclectic. Stephen’s favorite artists include Outkast, Pete Rock, Parquet Courts, Jimmy Buffett, Clipse, Shakira, and John Delafose.

A big part of his childhood, video games of the 90s and early 2000s remain a mainstay in Stephen’s day-to-day life. By his own admission, his collection of consoles and games has gotten rather excessive.

After graduation, Stephen plans on coaching youth soccer and aspires to one day work for a professional soccer club. Asked what college radio means to him, Stephen responded that college radio must carry the torch for the artists and ideas absent from mainstream radio.
