Richard K. Riederer

Richard K. Riederer is President and Chief Executive Officer of Weirton Steel Corporation, a major integrated steel producer serving customers in packaging construction, tubing, and service center markets.

Mr. Riederer joined Weirton in 1989 as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and subsequently was elected Executive Vice President and became a member of the Executive Operating Committee.  He was appointed to the Board of Directors in 1993.  Mr. Riederer was named President in January and Chief Executive Officer in November 1995.

A native of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Mr. Riederer received his Bachelor of Science in Economics in 1967 and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin in 1968.  He has taught in the M.B.A. program of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and has taught various business and finance courses at the University of Pittsburgh.

For four years prior to joining Weirton, Mr. Riederer served as Corporate Vice and Treasurer of Harnischfeger Industries, Inc. a Milwaukee-based holding company involved in the worldwide manufacture and distribution of papermaking machinery and mining, material handling and environmental equipment.

Mr. Riederer began his business career in 1986 with Allis-Chalmers Corportation.  He held a number of senior management and officer positions at Allis-Chalmers Corporation and its subsidiary, Allis-Chalmers Credit Corporation, during 17 years with the company.

Mr. Riederer serves as a director of the National Association of Manufacturers and Director and Vice Chairman of the American iron and Steel Institute.  He is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the Financial Management Association and the Financial Executives Institute.

Mr. Riederer also serves on the Board of Directors of WesBanco and FIRSTAR Funds, a subsidiary of FIRSTAR Corporation.  In addition, he is a member of the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Mellon University.
