Christine DeWitt

What made you decide to attend WLU’s undergraduate and MBA program?

I decided on WLU for many reasons.  First, since I am a non-traditional student, it was close and convenient for me to be able to finish my undergraduate degree in Accounting and Finance.  The smaller class size was an added plus.  And this is where I started many years ago.  It just made it all come full circle.

For my MBA, it was the only option I looked at.  I felt that I got a quality education in my undergraduate degree, and felt it would be the same for the MBA.

What were some things you enjoyed about the programs?

I enjoyed the smaller class sizes, along with some of the group projects.  I was able to learn a lot from other students, and vice versa. The diversity that West Liberty has is incredible. I had classes with students from around the globe, and while it is a smaller university, the diversity in such a small school keeps it from feeling small.

With the MBA, I had online classes with students from all over. It was a fast-paced program that kept you engaged with other students through the forums.

What is the value of the programs to you in what you learned?

The education I received gave me a good basis for my current position.  The individual and group projects that were presented in the finance classes really prepared me for digging deeper into situations that would relate to real circumstances, while giving me a glimpse of what it would be like to work on group projects at different levels.

How have you benefited from the program professionally?

Yes, I have.  Upon graduating with my undergraduate degree, I accepted a position at the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley.

Now, with finishing my graduate degree from WLU in Management, I plan on adjunct teaching in the fall.  I actually missed the classroom interaction.

Thomas Blust is a December 2018 graduate of the MBA program with a concentration in Management.

“The MBA program is very strong and being able to take critical thinking points and apply to a business practical setting will be beneficial for my career. The online professors through their vast experience in the business field were able to bring their experience in their related field to help me to be a well rounded student.”
Thomas Blust, MBA
