Toppers baseball set to play Notre Dame College (Ohio)

Head Coach Eric Burkle and his team take on a Mountain East Conference (MEC) north division opponent in a four game series. The Hilltoppers were originally set to play this series at home, but the locations and times have been changed. As of April 3, the games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Saturday and on Sunday they are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The games have been moved to Wild Things Park in Washington, Pa.

Women’s basketball impressive season concludes at MEC tournament

The women’s basketball season came to an end on March 1 as West Liberty was defeated 64-55 by Fairmont State during the quarterfinals of the Mountain East Conference Tournament. With head coach Kyle Cooper at the helm for his first year, the Lady Toppers improved their record from last year by four wins and produced a First-Team All-MEC honoree in junior forward, Marissa Brown. With Coach Cooper and Brown leading the charge, the Lady Toppers’ basketball program was revitalized this season. 

Toppers looking to build on two big wins last week

The No. 5 West Liberty University men’s basketball team will take on West Virginia State tonight at 7:30 p.m., followed by University of Charleston on Saturday. With two wins this weekend, WLU will extend its current winning streak to four games.

Hilltoppers remain undefeated after late game scare

The West Liberty University men’s basketball avoided their first loss of the season after escaping a late comeback by the Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State. Our Hilltoppers pulled out a 106-100 victory, still preserving their perfect season on Saturday, Dec. 9 at the ASRC.

Historic season for WLU volleyball comes to an end

“We can expect another history making season from the Lady Toppers next year.” 
 
These were the words that closed the Trumpet’s recap for the West Liberty women’s volleyball team after 2016’s 23-win season and MEC Tournament semifinal appearance. After this season’s 20-14, 9-7 MEC season, and an MEC Tournament Finals appearance, and near victory over the Atlantic Region powerhouse Wheeling Jesuit, it is safe to say that the Lady Toppers have not only met those expectations, but have exceeded them in every way.

The West Liberty Hilltoppers Football Team just released their schedule for the upcoming fall season. Fans familiar with the schedule from last season may note some important changes; a matchup with a long-time rival is moved closer to the end of the schedule and the Toppers will play host to a new out-of-conference opponent.

Four years of college to the naked eye may seem like an incredibly long journey. And it is, in some degree, but there is one thing that all college students, especially student-athletes, can agree on: it is not long enough. In two weeks, many student-athletes on the hilltop will walk across the stage for commencement and begin their new lives. 

Senior baseball pitcher amped up for final season

Trevor Stewart is a senior baseball player from Wheeling, W.Va. He is a piece of the West Liberty pitching staff. Stewart wears number 22 for the Toppers, and he looks to be an important part of the pitching staff this season.
