Howlett’s Hilltoppers gear up for MEC Tournament

After ending an incredible regular season on a low note with a home loss to rival Wheeling Jesuit, the West Liberty men’s basketball team is looking forward to postseason play, starting with the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Tournament in Charleston, W. Va. this week.

After a thrilling last-second road loss to Fairmont State, West Liberty men’s basketball team will look to rebound and maintain their top spot in the Mountain East Conference with a three-game homestand in the friendlier confines of the ASRC this week.

West Liberty’s women’s basketball team will travel to Fairmont, W.Va. on Sunday for its final matchup against the Lady Fighting Falcons at 2:30 p.m. WLU took the first matchup, and our Lady Toppers will look to make it a sweep with a victory on the road.

Hilltoppers remain undefeated after late game scare

The West Liberty University men’s basketball avoided their first loss of the season after escaping a late comeback by the Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State. Our Hilltoppers pulled out a 106-100 victory, still preserving their perfect season on Saturday, Dec. 9 at the ASRC.

Men’s basketball ready to host MEC/PSAC Challenge

After a shakeup in the coaching staff and the roster in the offseason, the preseason No. 17 West Liberty University men’s basketball team is ready to kick off the 2017-18 season on the court with the MEC/PSAC Challenge.

On March 21, West Liberty University and President Dr. Stephen Greiner announced that head men’s basketball Coach Jim Crutchfield resigned from his position and will be taking the head coaching job at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. On March 28, it was announced that Ben Howlett will be the new head men’s basketball coach

Jim Crutchfield resigns after 13 seasons at WLU

On Tuesday of last week, West Liberty University lost one of the most impactful staff members in its long history. West Liberty University and its President Dr. Stephen Greiner announced that  Men’s Head Basketball Coach Jim Crutchfield resigned from his position and will be taking the head coaching job at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
