Hilltop Players inspire with ‘The Miracle Worker’

The American Theatre Wing’s Tony Awards gives those who may never see a Broadway show a collective glimpse at New York City’s most popular and acclaimed productions, which collectively brought in over 13.7 million attendants and $1.7 billion, the Broadway League’s biggest and highest-grossing season in history.

Hilltop Players prepare for Romeo and Juliet

When people think of the word “play,” chances are that one name stands out above all others: Shakespeare. His works, while hundreds of years old, still manage to influence the modern world. One work in particular seems to have stood the test of time, and the Hilltop Players are proudly presenting their own performance of “Romeo and Juliet” in Kelly Theater.

Hilltop Players premiere “18 Vi­ctoria” tonight in Kelly Theater

The West Liberty University Hilltop Players open the first show of the semester “18 Victoria” today. The show will run Feb. 22-23 at 7:30 p.m., March 1-3 at 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday, March 4 at 3 p.m. 
 
The show was written by Cody Daigle-Orians, and is directed by Adjunct Theatre Professor Maggie Balsley.

Hilltop Players awe audiences with Christmas play

On Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, I had the opportunity to see the play The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, which was performed by the West Liberty University’s Hilltop Players. Instead of just having one cast perform the production, audiences had the opportunity to see two different casts perform it.

Get ready to get into the Christmas spirit with the Hilltop Players’ production of “Best Christmas Pageant Ever” by Barbara Robinson, beginning on Nov. 30 through Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and running again Dec. 7-9 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee showing on Dec. 10 at 3 p.m.

Dr. Melinda Kreisberg is a biology professor, director of Accreditation and Academic planning, and an Accreditation Liaison Officer for West Liberty University. She is also involved with the Hilltop Players, recently being the assistant director of “As it is in Heaven.”

‘As it is in Heaven’ offers a unique experience

On Oct. 5, the first showing of “As It Is in Heaven” premiered in Kelly Theater. The whole run of the show is being dedicated to Julie Alderfer, who was a part of the original play and recently lost her battle to cancer.

3 honorees inaugurate theater Wall of Fame

During this year’s Homecoming celebration, the theater department will present the First Annual Hilltop Players’ Wall of Fame Ceremony. The Hilltop Players have had a very rich history, filled with people who have worked with the program for years while going above and beyond the call of duty to make the program a success. The goal of starting a Wall of Fame is to recognize these contributions.
