Campus highly anticipates 2017 New York City trip

Spring break has been over, but West Liberty University students have another adventure coming. This semester, the Student Government Association is sponsoring a red eye bus trip to New York City. Students will depart from WLU’s campus on April 21 and return on April 23.  

Boden, Croasmun to lead WLU’s Student Government

Student Government Association elections have officially ended as newly-elected and returning members begin their terms for the 2017-2018 academic year. David “Reid” Boden takes the helm as SGA President for a second consecutive year, this time welcoming Adam Croasmun as his vice president. 

Students should keep an open mind for Spring Fling

As we approach the end of the school year, there are still many things to do before this year is in the books from Greek Week and Spring Fling to papers, finals and so much more. For those who have not yet heard, Spring Fling is scheduled to be held in the Union this year. No matter how you may feel about this decision, it is important to keep an open mind and give it a fair chance before rushing to judgement.

Students should keep updated with SGA elections and events

Student Government Association (SGA) elections are happening today, April 5, and it is important for students to participate in the election. The Student Government elections are held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through electronic voting. E-mails are to be sent out with a link to vote for the candidates. The President and Vice-President-elects will be sworn in towards the conclusion of the Honors Convocation ceremony.

CAB planning; upcoming campus-wide events

Campus involvement in SGA rises with N.Y. trip underway

The West Liberty University Student Government Association (SGA) is taking a new approach at event planning. Now, even students who do not have a chance to attend senate meetings can voice their opinions. SGA connected with the student body via Twitter to plan two big events for the spring: Spring Fling and a bus trip to New York City. 

Spring semester brings new and returning activities to campus

WLU: 2016 Year in Review

Looking back at the past year, 2016 has been eventful for West Liberty University; a lot has happened on the hilltop.

It has been a year of leadership changes, with the year beginning with welcoming Dr. Stephen Greiner as the new president of WLU and the university’s 36th president.  New Student Government Association officers were elected for the fall semester with Reid Boden and David Cullinan becoming the new president and vice president of SGA. Professor Mike Turrentine was named the new dean of the Gary E. West College of Business, and he took over the position on July 1.

Student Government decides against ASGA

Earlier this semester, West Liberty University’s Student Government Association had high spirits after initially deciding to join the American Student Government Association (ASGA). Now, those feelings have changed as the student government took a step back and chose not to join ASGA. 

West Liberty SGA joins national organization

The American Student Government Association (ASGA) has recently reached out to the Student Government Association here at West Liberty University. The ASGA aims to provide a means of communication between SGAs at various college campuses.

The ASGA mission statement reads, “The American Student Government Association will provide all Student Government leaders and advisors nationwide with networking, research, and information resources and will teach them how to become more effective, ethical, and influential leaders on their campuses.”
